How the Scholarships and Fees-grants Work:

We propose to offer up to six full-fee scholarships and twenty-four partial-fee grants across the Auckland region. These will be awarded to applicants from our Partner Schools with high coursework grades, and/or those who can provide evidence of past academic excellence, and are recommended by the school.

Amount and Type of Award

1. Full-fee Scholarships:

  • Up to six scholarships will be awarded annually
  • The scholarship covers the tuition fee of $13,000 for 48 weeks full-time study
  • The scholarship does not include the course related costs of $1000
  • The tenure of the scholarship is for 48 weeks.

  • Cut Above Scholarship Application Form (email pauline@cutabove.co.nz)
  • Academic Transcript
  • A letter of recommendation from School Careers Advisor or School Dean

Criteria

  • Applicants must be NZ citizens or permanent residents
  • Applicants must be able to enrol in a full-time one-year programme at the Cut Above Academy of Beauty and Spa Therapy in February 2011

Selection

  • Applications will be considered by a panel from the Academy of Beauty and Spa Therapy and applicants chosen will be required to attend an interview with the panel
  • No scholarship will be awarded if the panel is of the opinion that there is no applicant of sufficient merit applying for the award.

Conditions of Acceptance

  • The scholarship may not be held concurrently with any other fees scholarship
  • Applicants who are not awarded a full-fee scholarship may apply for a partial-fee study grant.
  • The recipient will be required to meet the attendance and coursework requirements

2. Partial – Fee Scholarships

How the partial- fees scholarships work

  • Cut Above’s scholarship ambassador will arrange a visit to the school to talk to students interested in a career in beauty therapy about the industry
  • Each Partner Scholarship is worth $2500, which goes towards the tuition fee of the recipients first year of study at the Academy
  • Scholarships are awarded for one full-time year of study in the Cut Above Academy of Beauty and Spa Therapy
  • Payment is made at the end of each academic year, based on final results.  To receive payment the students must pass the course attendance and progress requirements.

Who is eligible for a scholarship?

  • Each Partner School may nominate two students
  • The scholarship is normally awarded on ip ( to be concluded later tonight)
  • The recipient will be required to take a student loan to cover the fees which will be held by Public Trust until the end of the course, at which time the recipient will be reimbursed Payment will be made to the recipient.
