Level 3

Getting a head start in your career means having the best training – this is the philosophy behind all Cut Above courses. Our 12 week Certificate in Fashion Makeup (Level 3) is designed for people who want to train for a new career but cannot commit to a full-time year of training. The course will provide you with NZQA approved skills so you can apply, with confidence, for a job with a top cosmetic house or work as a freelance artist.

Course Content

Modules include:

  • Day, evening and bridal makeup
  • Basic hairstyling skills
  • Special occasion makeup
  • Corrective and glamour makeup
  • Basic beautician skin care
  • Cosmetic consultancy
  • Fashion catwalk and photo makeup
  • Basic freelancing skills

Duration

12 weeks - there are no holiday weeks in this programme.

This course is offered at our Auckland City and Manukau campuses.  

Course Costs

  • Tuition fees: $5,353.00
  • Compulsory course costs: $1,000.00*

*Includes the entry-level makeup kit which is required for this course.

Career Opportunities

You will have the skills to prepare skin for makeup application, create day makeup and hairstyling, and create total looks for different medias including fashion photographic work and fashion catwalk work.

Once you have graduated you can seek employment as a makeup artist in the following industries:

  • Bridal and special occasion makeup
  • Fashion
  • Cosmetic consultancy 

Entry Requirements

Entry is open to beginners and all applicants are considered however you must be: 

  • 16 years or older.
  • Able to demonstrate a basic understanding of spoken and written English.
